CRIMSON WRITTEN BY MARINI BARIKA FACEY
Green leaves lash in the licorice painted night! Lightning flashes through the auburn brushed sky! Red mud wildly splashes into a yellow painted door! Muddy footsteps trail across the dark wooden floor. Green blades of grass fall off of wet brown sandals. Burgundy wax slides down a cinnamon scented candle. Radiant red roses swiftly drop into an antique bronze vase. Chocolate dipped strawberries lay on an old ivory plate. Red mud and hot water quickly swirl down a silver drain! Green leaves and rain lash against the bathroom's windowpane! Chocolate colored silk glides over a glistening body of olive hue. Burgundy painted toes tiptoe into a dimly lit, secluded gray room. Yellow and violet paint violently rush across a high and wide linen canvas! Tomatoes and black olives slide off an artist's abandoned Italian sandwich. The body of olive hue presses firmly against the arched back of a tall mahogany man. Violet paint violently rushes over their glistening mahogany and olive bodies and hands! Wax glides down the cinnamon candle onto sepia woven lace. Chocolate dipped strawberries slide off of the falling ivory plate! Radiant crimson roses wildly cascade out of the broken bronze vase! Melted chocolate and burgundy wax drip down violet painted faces... "Diving For Hearts"
by CORINNE BAILEY RAE [Verse 1:] Till then I wasn't alive, I longed for you like the lovesick moon pulls the tide. So I peeled off my skin, I just slipped right in And I become alive. [Bridge 1:] 'Cause down here there's no fear There's no cause for panic There's just bright cold calm, I feel no harm. This underwater feeling's abandon and it fires my heart. [Chorus:] Was it emotion Or should I just keep on diving, Keep on diving down? Under this ocean I long to keep on diving, Till my heart is found. It's got a hold on me Can't forget the things I've seen [Verse 2:] World will all end And new worlds will begin It's a thought so stark. We're at once determinant, Yet so insignificant, Spinning out in the velvet dark. [Bridge 2:] Still, down here There's no fear There's no cause for panic There's just this bright cold calm Yeah, it leaves a scar So show me how to find again, If I'm lost, show me where you are [Vamp:] You have sheltered me In the heart of the sea Deep calls unto deep Your break has swept over me To be wild and to run over the stones into the sea Something's got a hold on me Can't forget the things I've seen Spiders' webs look like royal jewels when its string breaks,
and beads of dew hit the ground like skipping stones across the water A pet that reaches and stretches its whole body to see what they've heard outside the window, suddenly becomes a ballerina on her tiptoes A furrowed brow intimidates, but it is actually just blinded by the sun's glare A face at a glance looks discontent and arrogant, but actually just ate something tart and sour A wrinkle that appears near the corner of the eye when one laughs, has now made one ageless The apple that fell on Sir Isaac Newton's head is an ice cream cone in the hands of a happy child; we learn from that which is finite and our curiosity and wonder unlock the infinite |
“I am the most curious of all to see what will be the next thing that I will do.”
