INVISIBLE PART 7 "MADISON"
Written by Marini Barika Facey
Madison finally lowers her knees from a crouched position, but she is still frightened by Peter. She always wished for a hero to rescue her, but she never expected anything like this. Maddie feels as if she is going mad because of hormones and pregnancy, so she waits for her legs to wake up, and she slowly gets out of bed. She tries to be as quiet as possible.
Maddie has never been scared of Peter before. She has only felt safe and protected by him, but doubts invade her mind and she wonders what to believe. She doesn't know what Peter is capable of anymore! Madison worries about the baby, her life, her future and what it all means. She never pictured her life without Peter, but these strange, new secrets about him, make her uncertain about their relationship.
Madison steps into the bathroom and it is as if she steps into the deep end of the pool. She wades in her fears and looks in the mirror at herself. She doesn't want to drown in the unknown! Her dark brown eyes stare back at her. She closes them tightly and braces against the sink. When she opens her eyes again, Peter is behind her and she jumps! "What happened to you Maddie? Did you have a nightmare or something?" His sincere concern brings her back to reality and reminds her that she feel in love with this guy and nothing can shake that.
"Peter...we need to talk." Her seriousness makes Peter feel uneasy and paranoid, but he stays silent. They sit on the edge of the bed and thoughts flood his head. He has wondered many times if his relationship with his dad would push her away; he breathes in and prepares himself for the worst possible scenario, and then he panics and thinks, what if something is wrong with the baby and she never told me!
Peter dwells on over a dozen more overwhelming things and has to get up from the bed because his anger is rising. He starts to pace and put his hand on his face. Madison doesn't know what he is thinking and softly cries. He is so preoccupied and in his own world that he cannot see her tears. He is still silent and Maddie stares at him.
"Peter, you walked through the frickin' wall!" "What? What the hell are you talking about? Ha! I thought you were going to say something totally different than that!" He kneels next to her on the side of the bed and laughs, until he realizes she is serious and totally freaking out. "Madison." He holds her hands and kisses her knee. "Hey. Love." He tries to snap her out of it, but he feels her hands shaking. "Are you scared? What is going on?" "Peter! You sat straight up and then walked through that wall! I am serious!" He lets go of her hand, gets up, and rubs his head. He's never dealt with anything like this before. He pauses and finally says, "Do we need to call the doctor or something?" "What? Peter! I am so serious right now! You are supposed to believe me and listen to me!"
"Okay. Okay. I am listening, but you have to laugh Maddie. It just sounds like indigestion or a really trippy dream. If I came and told you this, you wouldn't just say, okay, whatever-" "Peter, I am terrified! You have never once done anything to make me feel unsafe, but I don't know..." "Hey. Hey. Hey." He darts back over to her and when he tries to hold Madison, she jumps. He is offended, but pushes past it, because she truly is scared. "Is it my dad? Is that making you feel like you can't be with me anymore? Do you feel I am going to be just like him? Come on Maddie, really-"
"No! Why aren't you listening to me? I am not making this up! This isn't analyze Maddie time! I saw you frickin' get up and do some crazy stuff Peter!" "Okay, tell me Maddie!" She starts to imitate his every step. "I gently patted your arm and I was screaming and asking you if you are okay, and you ignored me and got out of bed..." Maddie gestures and walks towards the wall, when she touches it, it moves like ripples in water. Peter and Madison stare at each other in shock, horror, and amazement!
