She stalls so that she can collect her thoughts, because her lies have caught up with her. Everything she perfectly planned and used to cover up her past is crumbling like the toppling walls Tyne saw, and she definitely doesn't want Wilton to see what the walls were hiding after the rubble settles and the dust clears. Wilton tries his best to be patient and understanding, but he is beyond concerned now, and starts to assume the worst! He just wanted to know what was going on at work, but he didn't realize he opened Mercy's gallery of shame. His phone begins to ring and Isabella is relieved but he ignores the call. His phone rings again and he ignores it because he wants to give Isabella his full attention, because he loves her more than his art, more than his career, more than anything in his life, and he thought she knew that, but apparently she didn't because she is hiding something. Wilton's phone rings a third time and Isabella persuades him to answer it. He stays focused in on Mercy as he takes the call, but she doesn't care, because she is given another moment to figure out what she is going to do and say! She has hidden these secrets for so long, in her mind, even Wilton is exempt from knowing the truth, but she knows she has to do something! Isabella looks into Wilton's eyes and his entire face turns into a startled, sorrowful canvas! He jumps up from the table and grabs a coat and screams, "Something happened to my brother, lets go!" Isabella tells him to go, hurry, and they can just talk later. Wilton desperately wants her to go with him and gives her a puzzled, disappointed look; he needs her right now, but she is so consumed with her own fears and selfishness! Wilt doesn't want to be alone, but she isn't even aware that he has left. Wilton gets to the ICU where he is told his brother tried to kill himself! Wil angrily screams in denial, "That is not possible!" He is amazed because his older brother has always been the strong, disciplined, joyful one! He looks up to him for everything! He cannot believe it! The nurses assure Wilton they will let him know any information as soon as they can. He paces in the waiting room and then punches a wall! A security guard quickly comes over to kick Wil out! Although they don't condone Wilton's actions, a doctor explains that Wilt is going through an intense situation, but they cannot disclose any details, so Wilton is permitted to stay; he is severely warned he will be kicked out if he does anything else, and is closely watched by security! Wilton hears and sees no one, and his thoughts and memories flood in and he falls to the ground and weeps! His brother is his hero and not just to him, but to everyone. He remembers all the lives he has saved, and Wilton fears that no one can save Antonio's life! The doctor comes back out to share the news with Wilton, but it takes several times before Wilton even hears his voice. The doctor signals to a nurse to get him something to drink immediately, because they need him to sign some important papers. A few hours later, Wilton looks up like a four year old little boy who has seen something traumatic! He is still in a state of shock! Doctors let him know that Antonio will be alright but they needed to transfer him to the second floor where his wife works. Wilton forgot all about Isabella, and becomes irritated because too many things are caving in on him at the same time! He hobbles and and gets up, and staggers as he runs to the elevator to go to the second floor. The nurses on shift give Wilton looks of pity because they have all gossiped and bragged about how they would take him from Mercy if she didn't take care of him properly! Wilton knows the stares and glances aren't because of his brother. "What is it? What?! Why is everyone looking at me this way?!" One nurse gets the courage to go up to Wilton and apologize for everything that has happened to Isabella. He gives her an annoyed, clueless look, because he hates that he is the last to know, but he really doesn't care at this point; he will forgive her of anything, because his brother is his biggest concern! "I don't care. I don't need to hear anything! I don't need your fake, forced pity!" Her flirtatious and caring face quickly drops because she is surprised by his reaction! She walks away, head down, extremely embarrassed. Wilton runs up to the door, ironically the room is where Aiden-Tyne was assigned, and enters slowly! The beeping of the monitors sounds like the beating of Wilt's heart! He feels so many emotions at once, he just wishes he had his canvas, so he doesn't implode! Wilton grabs his brother's hand and waits... "Ramah, Ramah, what happened man?" Wilton whispered. Their mother used to call Antonio by his middle name, no one else knew that except Wilton. The doctor knocks on the door and Wilton looks up hoping for some good news. He tells Wilton that his brother is in stable condition, which is outstanding, however, he is sorry, because they are not sure when Antonio will wake from the coma they induced in order to save his life. "When? What? No! No!" The doctor calmly reminded Wilton he signed off on this procedure earlier. Wilton's furrowed brow and features crumpled... Isabella runs in the door and the doctor gives her a peculiar look but welcomes her. She is more astonished by the room number than Wilton's face, but quickly acknowledges Wilton. He is surprised she came, but so thankful, because he didn't want to face this alone! The nurses see Mercy and whisper indistinctly at their station, and the nurse Wilt humiliated earlier comes over to them. "If she is coming back, you guys need to get over it. She has worked here for a long time and cares about these patients more than we could ever try to, and just because she had a little breakdown doesn't mean we need to put a stigma on her! We have all made mistakes that we are embarrassed about, so we need to give her more respect and privacy!" Some of the nurses rolled their eyes because they remember she is the one who pulled Mercy out of Tyne's room, while others reflected on the truth spoken and became silent. They all go back to work even though the tension is awkward. Wilton tells Isabella everything the doctor and nurses said and she tries to listen but her thoughts blare like sirens! Mercy sees the stares and rolling eyes at the front desk, so she gets up and closed the door. She slowly turns and never looks into Wilton's eyes. "I know this isn't the best time and this seems selfish, but I have to tell you everything right now or I will never tell you! I feel like the thoughts in my head are going to explode, erupt!" Wilton looks up at her more fearfully than when he heard the news about Ramah! Firefighters frantically rush to the second floor to see Antonio! The nurses quickly soften their mean, hateful stares and converse with these handsome men while they wait to hear about Antonio. The guys anxiously wait because a doctor comes and tells them, it will have to be one moment, because Wilton and Mercy shut the door! They can't believe it! He is like a brother to them! The firefighters look at each other and all wonder the same haunting thought... Did Antonio do this because all those children died and they couldn't save any of them, not one?! TO BE CONTINUED!!! |
