Stephen bites into a sandwich and lifts the phenomenal photograph up to the light with his other hand. He is curious about why this particular picture was accidentally left behind for him to find. Gloria's face looks different in this photo because she has a glow of happiness with Tyne that they never seemed to have. It's like Gloria knew this patient for years, which makes Stephen wonder even more why Tyne is so significant. He drops his half eaten sandwich on the plate and walks back into his bedroom. Stephen hasn't changed or moved anything that belongs to Gloria. He looks in the closet and squeaking hangers slide to the left. Stephen stops on a specific coat Gloria always wore. He lays it across the bed and continues to riffle through the closet. Now that Stephen has found this mysterious photograph, he knows he has barely reached the cusp of Gloria's secrets. He feels a bit childish looking for hints and clues so intensely, but it causes him to feel connected to her; besides, he utterly enjoyed watching Columbo, Holmes, and Poirot growing up. Depression usually overtakes Stephen because of the guilt and regret he feels, but this random photograph is restoring more to him than he will ever know. He pricks his finger on the pin and sticks his finger in his mouth. Stephen turns over the pin to wipe off his blood and sees an inscription on the back that reads, Luca. Puzzled, Stephen flips it back over and rubs his fingers over the teal and burgundy pin. It has writing in Latin, but he doesn't quite understand it. Gloria was obsessed with languages and was fluent in three; she kept him cultured with all of her fascinations. The more he discovers about her, the more he wonders how she loved him and why she even picked him. He pulls a book off Gloria's shelf and skims over it's glossary, Esse Quam Videri: Page 53. Stephen quickly flips through and guides his finger down the page. "Esse Quam Videri- to be rather than to seem." Stephen laughs at the irony of this phrase because he is learning, nothing is as it seems...
